Wow- what a crazy 3 weeks its been! I've got a moment to relax so I thought I'd give everyone an update! Rowan was born on April 21st at 8:21am- after 2 days of contractions, an irregular heartbeat from the contractions and not progressing, 15 hours of labor at the hospital, 3 1/2 hours of pushing and not getting anywhere, and finally resorting to the scary vacuum! We spent almost a week in the hospital- Rowan's jaundice was pretty bad because the vacuum broke so many blood vessels in his poor little scalp. It was a very emotional few days, not being able to hold him much and thinking we were going home and didn't get to. On Sunday we got to go home, but were still pretty stressed until the following Friday when his jaundice levels finally went down and he started gaining his weight back. He's been a pretty easy baby until the last 5 days or so- the newborn sleepy-ness is wearing off a bit and he is more alert now its hard to get him to sleep!
My mom came for my birthday/mother's day and we had a BBQ on Sat. My mom's brother came w/ his family, and my mom's parents came from Sacramento. We had 4 generations together and it was really awesome.
Nate went back to work this week- on Tuesday. Its been an interesting couple of days... and exhausting.Today has been a bit better though, after a horrible 2nd half of the night where Rowan just did NOT want to go back to bed. Hopefully for my sanity we have more days like today! Hopefully these posts become a bit more frequent- and I am off for a mini nap!
