A year ago today was the day I was CERTAIN Rowan would make his appearance. He was conceived soon after Nate's Uncle Michael passed away, he was growing quickly for some unknown reason, so his due-date was moved to the 20th- the day after Michael's birthday & our wedding anniversary (the last time we saw him). His wife, Aunt Shar, knew I was pregnant at the funeral- before I even had a clue. We knew this baby was kissed by his great-uncle, but that just solidified it for me. Michael was telling our family that he was certainly watching over us. As soon as I knew I was pregnant, I knew this baby would have an adventurous soul, and HAD to be named after him.
One year ago today, we were BBQ'ing in the back yard at our old house. It was a heat wave. That night I started having pretty regular contractions that kept me up all night. We walked up and down our street, long past dark to get things moving... waiting to meet him. But like his great-uncle, Rowan was taking us on an adventure. He held out for our anniversary- apparently he wanted his OWN day.
Happy Birthday Uncle Michael, we miss you!
